One Hundred Years of the Dialectic: Reflections on “Marxism and Philosophy”

In a recent article appearing in Spectre Journal, Darren Roso concludes his discussion of “Weimar’s Marxist Heretic: Reading Karl Korsch Today” by stating that “It is, perhaps, good but dark time to read authors like who articulated something timeless about revolutionary Marxism.” What finds “timeless” is the importance “timeliness” “absolute” commitment human liberation. One might hesitate before absolute, yet it noteworthy text most central intellectual legacy (1886-1961) has now reached its centenary and may well be correct claim indeed good, albeit dark, re-read Korsch. This essay will not retread ground covered Roso, reader strongly encouraged learn more life work accessing Roso’s timely excellent contribution. instead focus on “Marxism Philosophy,” consider what extent remains for our times, mostly necessarily only those share ongoing progressive socialist commitments.
